Hello Halloween Night

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006 | Author: susheewa

halloween According to wiki pedia website“Halloween is a tradition celebrated on the night of October 31, most notably by children dressing in costumes and going door-to-door collecting sweets. It is celebrated in parts of the Western world, though most commonly in the United States, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Puerto Rico, and with increasing popularity in Australia and New Zealand. Halloween originated as a Pagan festival among the Celts of Ireland, France[1] and the British Isles, with Irish, Scots and other immigrants transporting versions of the tradition to North America in the 19th century. Most other Western countries have embraced Halloween as a part of American pop culture in the late 20th century.” halloween Symbols “The carved jack-o’-lantern, lit by a candle inside, is one of Halloween’s most prominent symbols. Although there is a tradition in the British Isles of carving a lantern from a rutabaga, mangelwurzel, or turnip, the practice was first named and associated with Halloween in North America, where the pumpkin was available, and much larger and easier to carve. Many families that celebrate Halloween carve a pumpkin into a frightening or comical face and place it on their home’s doorstep after dark.”

Halloween traditions “Halloween traditions survive most accurately on the island of Ireland, where the last Monday of October is a public holiday. All schools close for the following week for mid-term, commonly called the Halloween Break. As a result Ireland and Northern Ireland are the only countries where children never have school on Halloween and are therefore free to celebrate it in the ancient and time-honored fashion.

The custom of trick-or-treating resembles the European custom called “souling”, similar to the wassailing customs associated with Yule. On November 2, All Souls’ Day, beggars would walk from village to village begging for “soul cakes” ? square pieces of bread with currants. Christians would promise to say prayers on behalf of dead relatives helping the soul’s passage to heaven. The distribution of soul cakes was encouraged by the church as a way to replace the ancient practice of leaving food and wine for roaming spirits at the Samhain.

Further information: Puck (mythology) Souling died out in most areas of England by the mid-17th century, during the English Reformation. There is no evidence that souling was ever practiced in North America, and trick-or-treating seems to have evolved there independently: the earliest report of ritual begging on Halloween is from 1915, and it did not become a widespread practice until the 1930s. Ritual begging on Halloween did not appear in the British Isles until the late 20th century, and imitates the American custom.

In Celtic parts of western Brittany, Samhain is still heralded by the baking of kornigou. Kornigou are cakes baked in the shape of antlers to commemorate the god of winter shedding his “cuckold” horns as he returns to his kingdom in the Otherworld.

In the Isle of Man where Halloween is known as Hop-tu-Naa children carry turnips instead of pumpkins, and sing a song called Jinnie the Witch.”

How piano is beautiful?

Monday, October 30th, 2006 | Author: susheewa

piano I like all kinds of music especially classic style.Music not only give me feel happy ,but it also release my tension after working. When I was a teenager,I tried to play both Thai instrument called Khim and Guitar.I feel very happy during that time becasue I had to studied extremly hard in nursing but I have alternative way for relaxation. However, there is a kind of musician instrument that I hope to play.It is “Piano”. In my view, piano sound is very harmony, and people who can play piano are very high performance. That why today I want to recall to the history of this instrument.

According to wikipedia”A piano or pianoforte is a musical instrument classified as a keyboard, percussion, or string instrument, depending on the system of classification used. The piano produces sound by striking steel strings with felt hammers that immediately rebound allowing the string to continue vibrating. These vibrations are transmitted through the bridges to the soundboard, which amplifies them.

The piano is widely used in western music for solo performance, chamber music, and accompaniment. It is also very popular as an aid to composing and rehearsal. Although not portable, and often expensive, the piano’s versatility and ubiquity has made it among the most familiar of musical instruments.

The word piano is a shortened form of the word pianoforte, which is seldom used except in formal language and derived from the original Italian name for the instrument, gravic?mbalo col piano e forte (literally harpsichord with soft and loud). This refers to the ability of the piano to produce notes at different volumes depending on the amount of force used to press the keys.”

The advantage of music Listening to music does a lot of wondering to destress stress in many people. Please note that everyone has different tastes in music. Listen to the music will help you feel comfortable after you work all day.

According to Dr. Bussakorn Sumrongthong study “She has conducted music therapy research and workshops both in Thailand and abroad. Her music therapy research has involved the mentally disadvantaged children from the Rachanukul School, Bangkok and for the physically handicapped at the Sawangkanivas Rehabilitation Center, Samuthprakarn, Thailand. She also has performed cross-cultural research on the use of Thai musical instruments as a tool in music therapy following the Japanese Akaboshi Music therapy method. While conducting field research in the northern Hmong Villages, she explored the musical ceremony of the Hmong shaman and the therapeutic roles they serve. She also supervised the thesis research on the Phi Fa,the Shaman of Isan (the Northeast region of Thailand) and has been involved with many music therapy workshops and lectures abroad outside of her home country of Thailand.”

Survey and questionnairs designing

Sunday, October 29th, 2006 | Author: susheewa

questionnair The most common of research methods is survey becuase it is very easy and useful for every part ot research not only quantitative research but also in qualitative research. questionnair According to this website the advantages of questionnairs as following:

“Questionnaires are very cost effective when compared to face-to-face interviews. This is especially true for studies involving large sample sizes and large geographic areas. Written questionnaires become even more cost effective as the number of research questions increases.

Questionnaires are easy to analyze. Data entry and tabulation for nearly all surveys can be easily done with many computer software packages.

Questionnaires are familiar to most people. Nearly everyone has had some experience completing questionnaires and they generally do not make people apprehensive.

Questionnaires reduce bias. There is uniform question presentation and no middle-man bias. The researcher’s own opinions will not influence the respondent to answer questions in a certain manner. There are no verbal or visual clues to influence the respondent.

Questionnaires are less intrusive than telephone or face-to-face surveys. When a respondent receives a questionnaire in the mail, he is free to complete the questionnaire on his own time-table. Unlike other research methods, the respondent is not interrupted by the research instrument.”
