I have been relised that my right ear has a hearing loss two years ago, and it seems to be worse, so I decided to consult the GP and she referred me to meet up with ENT doctor one month later.

I had to be test my hearing by the audiologust before meeting with ENT doctor, then I had to be scanned my brain to find out what is wrong with my right ear after meeting a doctor because the hearing test is outstanding shown that my hearing from the right ear is not good enough to separate the sound.

Then I had been scanned my brain in December 2009, and has an appoinment to see the ENT doctor again today. The doctos said my brain is okey from the scan but he still did not know yet what wrong with my ear. Then he gave me three choices, 1) do nothing and keep observing my hearing 2) use “hearing aid” and 3) has an operation to see what’s wrong inside my ear.

If I prefer the frist choice, I will do nothing just observe and cope with this hearing until I die. It means It mostly happens with aging but it’s a bit early in my age. Accroding to this choice, I think even it is not a major problem but why I have to wait until I get worse, or until I die. Why I have to spend a hafe of my life with the hearing loss.

If I choose the second choice, I will be referred to The Hearing Services Department, then I will be test by the audiologist again and then I will be given the hearing aid which is suitable for me. There are two types of hearing aid, earmould and slimtube. This process will be taken arond 2-3 months. Then I have to get use to with the hearing aid, and meet up with ENT doctor again 6 months later.

If I prefer to the last choice, I will get an appointment to see the surgeon in 4 weeks and have to discuss with him, the operation will be taked part after that. I need to be admit in hospital for 2-3 days after operation.

It is really difficult to make a decision between the second and third choice because the faster doctor know the problem, the sooner I will be treated properly. Owing to my writing up process, I will go through the second choice first and if it is not better, I will go throgh the last choice afterward.
